Preparing for the Delivery of my King Quilter 2 Elite

This week I posted my first YouTube video.

In this video, I show off my craft room as I prepare for the delivery of my King Quilter 2 Elite Longarm Quilting Machine.

I have been longing for a longarm quilting machine for the longest time, but had no clue what to look for or where! I started my research by watching YouTube videos. As often as I could, I would watch videos of random people with random machines and try to learn as much as I could.

I work full time as a 2nd grade teacher, so, unfortunately, I cannot afford a top of the line machine. I did not want to go out and just purchase the cheapest machine that I could find. I considered buying a used machine or refurbished one, but both options made me nervous. I visited my local quilt shop to test drive a few machines they had on display and ask an expert about the questions that still lingered. Most of the machines they offered were by Handi Quilter and believe me when I say they were nice.

I had previously purchased machines from SewingMachinesPlus.com, so I knew that I liked their site, prices, and customer service. I started researching the machines that they offered and stumbled across the King Quilter 2 Elite. I was immediately curious as to who the manufacturer was but it was not clearly stated in the listing. I began on some new research and found that most people thought it was by Handi Quilter. Upon receiving the machine, I can share that the extras are Handi Quilter brand. For example, the extra feet (the glide foot) is by Handi Quilter.

After a while of contemplating, I decided to go for it and I purchased the King Quilter 2 Elite. I really do want to take a moment to say how fantastic the customer service was from SewingMachinesPlus.com. After my order was placed, they called me to confirm the order was correct and go over everything that was included to ensure there were no surprises. The woman who called gave me information about the machine I purchased, was complimentary about my choice, and shared some conversations that she had with other customers recently with the same machine. She gave me an overview of when my machine would ship, how it would be delivered, and what to do if I had any questions/needed any help.

In the YouTube video I linked above, you can see a time lapse of most of the assembly of the frame. Unfortunately, the instruction manual was missing from my boxes, but I found it quickly from the website and was able to use that.

Since I had the machine, I’ve quilted about a dozen projects and have not had a single issue with it. It runs so smoothly and the stitch regulation is fantastic. I have found that I most often use precision mode at about 12 stitches per inch.

I am really looking forward to sharing my adventures with this machine and all the quilts that I make in the future as well as the ones I have made so far! In the meantime, here is the first actual quilt I put on the frame and finished! I was able to use both free motion meandering as well as some straight line ruler work for this first quilt. Let me know what you think of it!
