Crochet Adventures
My brand “KnottedTwists” began in January of 2014. I was 15 years old and ready to start my first Etsy shop. At the time, I was obsessed with everything crochet. I even took projects with me wherever I went! My favorite thing to make was amigurumi and so that’s what I decided to sell. Across the years I had some big hits including…
Baymax from Big Hero Six.

Mr. Oogie Boogie from The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Chickens from Stardew Valley.

Okay, you get the point. It was so exciting that people wanted my items! As a teenager, it was a dream come true. But as I got older, it became boring to make the same item over, and over, and over again. I wanted some variety. And that is when I discovered quilting! I knew how to sew thanks to my mom and her very, very old Brother machine that she saved. Once I was ready to get serious I went out to buy my very first machine! Now, of course, at the time, I didn’t understand the differences between them all, so I simply picked one out at Walmart.
Sewing Machines
My first machine was the Singer Sew Mate Model 5400.

This machine did not take me very far… It wasn’t long before I gave up and assumed I sucked at quilting. But I got drawn back to it very quickly. Soon enough I upgraded to the Singer Quantum Stylist.

This machine took me much further on my quilting journey! But again, I eventually reached a point where I wanted to do more. Most prominently: I wanted to quilt a king sized quilt which was not quite possible in the throat space offered by this one. So… onto the next upgrade! I next said hello to a Babylock Jazz II.

This machine took me the furthest of them all until more recently. I found that the Jazz still did not quite have the power I wanted even though the throat space was incredible. And so after some thorough research and knowing what I was actually looking for, I decided on a Juki TL-15 and I cannot say a single bad thing about it so far!

I absolutely love my Juki and looking back I have no clue how I made so many creations without it! Now, onto my latest purchase. After many years of drooling at quilting conventions, researching, and (lots and lots) of dreaming. I have purchased a longarm quilting machine.

As I am writing this, the King is not yet in my possession, but I expect it to arrive within a week. SO EXCITED!
I have been so lucky that I’ve been able to try out all of these different machines and I will likely write more about them all in the future. But that’s all I’ve got for today.
Blog Beginnings
I am excited to begin this blog so that I can help people learn. I want to share the knowledge that I have gained on my journeys so that I can maybe save someone from a bad purchase or at least share my own experience to help with those big decisions. So, that’s all for now. Thanks for reading!
